diets dont' work

The Real Reason Most Diets Don’t Work? It’s Not You—It’s Your Mindset.

Let’s just say it:
You’re not failing diets.
Diets are failing you.

My early years as a dietitian I spent handing people a strict plan, a list of “bad foods,” and maybe a sample, “eat like this” menu plan. But here’s the problem—instructions and lists and menu plans don’t address the most powerful part of your health journey:

🧠 Your mindset.
Not your willpower. Not your calories. Not your “discipline.”
What you believe drives what you do—and if your beliefs are soaked in years of all-or-nothing thinking, shame, and diet culture rules… no meal plan on earth can fix that.

How Thought Patterns Drive Behavior

Every decision you make around food, movement, and self-care is influenced by the little voice in your head—what I call “The Narrator.”

When your Narrator says:

  • “You always give up eventually.”

  • “You need to be perfect or you’ve failed.”

  • “You’re too old to change now.”

…your actions tend to fall in line with that script.

So if you’ve ever felt like you’re on a carousel of start-stop diets and short-lived motivation, it’s not about lacking willpower—it’s about negative  thoughts driving your behavior.

It’s Time to Get Curious, Not Critical

Instead of asking, “Why can’t I stick to anything?”
Try asking, “What do I believe about myself and food?”

You may discover beliefs that are:

  • Left over from childhood (like finishing your plate no matter what)

  • Based on shame (feeling guilty after eating something you enjoy)

  • Built on perfectionism (feeling like one “slip” ruins everything)

Here’s the good news: Beliefs can change.
And when they do? The habits follow.

What I Want You to Know

You don’t need another diet.

You need a mindset that honors your body, respects your life, and gives you the freedom to make nourishing choices without shame or punishment.

Inside my Menopause Makeover program, we focus on just that—building a personalized path with nutrition, movement, and the mindset to match. Because when your thoughts shift, everything else follows.

Ready to ditch the diet brain and reclaim your power?

Let’s begin—no perfection required. Just curiosity, compassion, and the belief that you are capable of joyful transformation.

It’s time to shut down the inner critic and start to heal.
